TEHRAN – Musicians from Iran and other countries will team up to perform during the 12th Morgenland Festival Osnabruck, Germany from September 2 to 11, the organizers have announced.

Kamancheh virtuoso Keyhan Kalhor and Malian kora player Toumani Diabate will perform a duet in the Art of Duet section on September 4.

The organizers also plan to highlight the central Iranian city of Isfahan by arranging a program entitled “Two Trips to Isfahan: 1636 and 2013”, which will be presented in two sections by Iranian and German actors and musicians on September 7.

German actor Mario Freivogel will narrate a travelogue of Isfahan by a group of German musicians, which included Christian Herwich, who visited the city in 1635. The Hamburger Ratsmusik ensemble will accompany Freivogel with compositions from Herwich.

The second part of the program is the travel diary “They Would Rock. 59 Days in Iran” by Helena Henneken who travelled through Iran in 2013.

Her diaries will be read by Iranian actress Neda Rahmanian who will be accompanied by Iranian setar player Hooman Esmaeilian.

The festival, which was established in 2005, has been dedicated to the music culture of the Middle East and Near East, from traditional music to avant-garde, jazz and rock.
